Does it float or sink?
This week we have been investigating things that float and sink. The students are beginning to understand the concepts light and heavy and have realized that the heavier things sink. They continue finding things in the classroom and feeling them to see if they are light or heavy. They then move to the water table and test out their predictions.
The students are designing their own boats now and next week we will test them out in the water.

How far does your plane go?
The students have been creating paper airplanes. Today they took the flying to the hallway. When asked to find a way to measure the distance their planes flew, they decided that they would measure by bricks on the wall. Great group work as they decided which order they would go in, who would record and the collaboration of how to form the numbers.
